① Getting started

From download to your first unlock.

Download & install Relay

On your iPhone.

On your PC.

1Open the App Store (or your TestFlight invite) and get Relay.
2Open it. No account needed, nothing to sign up for.
3You're in. Your vault lives on this phone, encrypted.
1Download Relay for Windows from relaykeyboard.com.
2Run the file. If Windows SmartScreen appears, click More info → Run anyway.
3Relay opens and sits quietly in your tray until you need it.

Turn on the Relay keyboard

One-time setup so Relay works in every app.

1In Relay, tap Set up the keyboard.
2Turn on Relay, then turn on Allow Full Access (needed to paste documents).
3Switch to Relay with the 🌐 globe key in any chat.

Create or import your vault

Start fresh, or bring one across.

Bring your vault to the desktop.

1First run sets up an empty, encrypted vault automatically.
2Already have a Relay vault? Import the .pcv file and enter its passphrase.
3Everything is encrypted on your device before it's ever stored.
1Click Import vault and choose your .pcv file.
2Enter the passphrase, and the vault is decrypted only on this PC.
3Or pair with your phone (Sync) to pull it across wirelessly.

Unlock with Face ID

Sensitive items stay locked until it's you.

Unlock on your computer.

1Tap any item marked Sensitive.
2Face ID (or your passcode) confirms it's you, right there, no app-switching.
3You're unlocked for 15 minutes, then it re-locks itself.
1Click Unlock.
2Confirm with Windows Hello or your vault password.
3Sensitive details are usable for 15 minutes, then lock again.

② Fill your vault

Get your details and documents in.

Scan a document

Passport, Emirates ID, licence: the details fill themselves.

1On Home, tap Scan and point at the document.
2Relay reads the details for you. Check them, fix anything, name it.
3Tap Save. The details and the scan are now one tap away.

Scan the back of an Emirates ID

The code strip reads perfectly, no typos.

1Choose Scan and flip to the back of the ID card.
2Relay reads the machine-code lines and fills the 784-… number exactly.
3Confirm and save. It's verified, not guessed.

Add a detail by hand

An IBAN, a note, anything.

Add a detail on your PC.

1In the Vault, tap the + Add button.
2Type a name and the value, pick a category.
3Save, and it's instantly ready on your keyboard.
1Open the Vault and click + Add.
2Enter the label and value, choose a category, save.
3It syncs to your phone straight away.

Add a location pin

A live map pin plus the written address.

1Add a detail and choose Location.
2Search the address or drag the map so the pin sits exactly right.
3Save. One tap now drops the pin and address into any chat.

Edit or delete a detail

Change or remove anything, any time.

1Tap any item to open it.
2Edit the details, or tap Delete to remove it.
3The change syncs to your other devices instantly.
1Click an item to edit it.
2Change the details or delete it, and it updates on your phone too.

Add a family member

Everyone's documents, one vault.

Filter by person on your PC.

1In the Vault, tap Add family and type their name.
2Drag any card onto their chip to file it under them.
3Tap a person to see only their things.
1People you add on your phone appear as filter chips here.
2Click a person to show only their documents.
3Search finds them by name too.

Organise with categories

Group things your way.

1Tap New category and name it (e.g. Cars, Work).
2Drag any card into it, or set the category when you add an item.
3Filter the vault by tapping a category chip.
1Right-click an item → Move to category to organise.
2Custom categories sync across your phone and PC.

Move files between sections

Drag and drop.

Right-click to move.

1Press and hold any card until it lifts.
2Drag it onto another category and it glows to show it'll land there.
3Let go. It's filed and synced.
1Right-click any detail in the Vault.
2Choose Move to category and pick the new one.
3The change syncs to your phone straight away.

Mark something sensitive

Passwords and IDs stay behind Face ID.

1Open an item and turn on Sensitive.
2It now needs Face ID before it can be inserted anywhere.
3Perfect for passport numbers, cards and passwords.
1Edit an item and tick Sensitive.
2It stays locked until you unlock the vault on this PC.

③ Everyday use

The moments you'll use every day.

Insert a detail into any chat

The whole point: one tap, anywhere.

1In WhatsApp, Mail, a form, switch to the Relay keyboard (🌐).
2Tap the detail you need.
3It types itself into the message. Send.

Send a document or photo

Scan and details, together, in one message.

1Tap a document tile on the keyboard.
2The file copies, so paste it into the chat.
3Tap the tile again to add the details as the caption.

Search your vault

Find anything fast.

1Tap the 🔍 magnifier on the keyboard.
2Type a few letters: “iban”, “sam”, “visa”.
3Tap the match to insert it.

Send your location

A pin the recipient can open anywhere.

1Tap your saved location on the keyboard.
2It drops a Google Maps pin plus the written address.
3Works for anyone, no special app needed.

Answer for a family member

At the clinic or the school desk.

1On the keyboard, tap the person's name in the top row.
2Only their documents show.
3Tap what reception asked for. Done.

Paste on your PC

Any app, one shortcut.

1Press Ctrl + Shift + V anywhere.
2Search or pick the detail from the overlay.
3It's typed into the app you were in.

④ Your availability

Answer “when are you free?” from your own calendars.

Add your work & personal calendars

Both diaries, one honest answer.

Connect on your PC too.

1Settings → Availability → Connect Google or Microsoft Calendar.
2Sign in, then tap Add another to connect your other calendar, work and personal both.
3They merge: a slot only counts as free when it's free on every calendar. Relay sees when you're busy, never what you're doing.
1Open Settings → Availability and connect your calendars.
2Your merged free slots become available to insert on the desktop too.

Set your gap between meetings

Never get offered a back-to-back.

1Settings → Availability → Gap between meetings.
2Pick 15, 30 minutes, whatever you need to get between things.
3Your shared slots respect it automatically, and re-cut the moment you change it.
1Set your preferred gap in Settings → Availability.
2Every slot you share leaves that breathing room around meetings.

Share your availability

Pick a day, it types your free slots.

Insert your slots on your PC.

1Tap the 📅 calendar key on the keyboard.
2Choose Today, a specific day, or the whole week.
3Relay types your real free slots. Send.
1Open the Ctrl+Shift+V overlay and pick Availability.
2Choose the day or week and it's inserted for you.

Your vault, on every device.

Sync your phone with your computer

Pair once, stays in step.

Pair with your phone.

1Sync tab → Scan a computer's code.
2Point your camera at the code on the computer.
3Done: changes flow both ways, always encrypted.
1Open Sync → Show pairing code.
2Scan it from your phone's Sync tab.
3Your vaults are now in step.

Add a second computer

Laptop and desktop, same vault.

Join an existing sync.

1On the new computer, open Sync → Show pairing code.
2On your phone, tap Scan a computer's code and scan it.
3Every device joins the same sync.
1Show this PC's pairing code and scan it from the phone.
2It joins the phone's existing sync, and nothing is disconnected.

See your synced devices

Know what's connected.

1Open the Sync tab.
2Every device shows as a chip: phone, laptop, desktop, last seen.
3Stop syncing any time from here.
1The Sync page lists every device on your sync with its last-seen time.

Family Share

Send a few items to a partner or child.

1Tap Share your vault and pick the items.
2Relay makes an encrypted bundle with a spoken share code.
3They open it on their phone with the code.
1Select items and Share with family to make an encrypted bundle.
2Send it and share the code separately.

Back up your vault

Always have a safe copy.

1Pair a computer in Sync and it keeps an encrypted copy automatically.
2Or make a Family-Share bundle (.pcv) and save it somewhere safe.
3Restore any time by importing the .pcv or re-syncing.
1Your synced PC already holds an encrypted copy of the vault.
2Import a .pcv to restore, or re-pair to pull it back.

Grind through forms without hunting.

1In the overlay, press 3 on each field you'll need.
2Close the overlay.
3Each Ctrl+Shift+V types the next field, in order.

Snippets & {vault:…} templates

Templates that fill themselves.

1On the Clipboard page, click New snippet.
2Write your text with {vault:IBAN}, {date} and more.
3It appears in the overlay, filled with live values.

Company KYC Packs

Send your documents in one go.

Bundle your company documents.

1Create a pack (licence, IBAN, IDs) and name it.
2When a bank asks, insert the whole pack in one tap.
3Always the current versions.
1On the Vault page, open Packs and build a Company KYC pack.
2In the overlay, Enter sends the block, or 3 arms it as a sequence.

Clipboard history

Everything you've copied, safe and searchable.

1Open the Clipboard page.
2Search or pin anything you've copied. Passwords are auto-masked out.
3It never leaves your PC.

⑦ Privacy & safety

Because it's your paperwork.

What Relay can never see

The short version: nothing.

1Your vault is encrypted on your device.
2The keyboard has no internet permission at all.
3Anything synced travels as ciphertext: we hold the lock, never the key.
1Your vault is encrypted on this PC.
2Synced data is ciphertext only; the relay can never read it.

Lock your vault & control your data

You're always in charge.

1Tap Lock any time to re-lock instantly.
2Stop syncing, or remove a device, whenever you like.
3Delete the app and the encrypted vault goes with it.
1Lock now from the tray or Sync page.
2Unpair a device or clear data at any time.

If you lose your phone

Your details stay safe.

1Your vault is useless to anyone without Face ID and the key.
2Nothing is stored on our servers in the clear.
3Restore from your synced computer or your .pcv backup.
1Your synced PC still holds the vault, so restore your phone from it.
2Or re-import your .pcv backup.
